| Sales talent: 2011 POS Award for the “POSsibility” display [more] |
Award winning in 2011: at the viscom international trade fair for visual communication, technology and design held in mid-October in Düsseldorf, Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik won the gold award in the “Metal Systems” category of the Superstar display competition. The prize winner was the innovative “POSsibility” modular display system from Wanzl. With its wide range of design options for eye-catching product launches, impulse buys and positioning of special offers, this modular long-term system is the last word in goods presentation at the Point of Sale (POS). Werner Kössler, Wanzl product manager, the project leader and a major creative influence on the system, together with Markus Galgenmiller’s design team, said: “Our customers in industry and trade are investing in a ‘living’, expandable mobile system that can be constantly modified. ‘POSsibility’ is exactly this system – it adapts perfectly to every POS sales situation and successfully ensures a significant increase in turnover.”
The judges were won over by the convenient and rapid construction of the system, which requires no tools. They were equally impressed by its use as a long-term, visionary and customised display for themes, special offers and basic products with unlimited presentation versions, while taking up only 0.96 m² of sales floor space. It is even ideal for all kinds of product ranges – food as well as non-food – always marketed to a high quality. Further advantages: “POSsibility” can be transported by all types of lifting equipment and flexibly delivered to the POS. Which is exactly where shoppers make purchase decisions in a matter of seconds. Simultaneously standardised and yet still customisable through the use of flexible advertising panels, “POSsibility” is a mobile individual display for secondary placement and special offers. The Wanzl display is also perfectly suited as a mobile shop-in-shop system for shopfitting concepts. Lighting or digital media can be easily integrated into the system. These advantages won over the prestigious judging panel of the Superstar competition, chaired by Prof. Welfhard Kraiker, from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, as well as the six other selected individuals from industry, trade, display associations and creative agencies. The 18th Superstar Award was sponsored by Display Verlag in Hamburg and its magazine on sales promotion and marketing. Awards were presented to competitors in six categories.
On the Superstar competition floor, Wanzl presented the system using the product ranges and company branding of Summer Fun GmbH to demonstrate the seasonal placement of swimming pool products, and using fischerwerke GmbH & Co. KG’s branding to show the long-term placement of screws and similar products. Both companies have successfully employed the marketing display at their POS since 2011 in a variety of sales channels. Summer Fun chose “POSsibility” because: “Goods and the POS message were prominently displayed,” explains Peter Herrmann, the Summer Fun marketing director. Manuel Schiegl, responsible for design and advertising at Summer Fun, added: “Permanent displays from Wanzl ensure a durable, attractive and sophisticated market presence when it comes to marketing, and extend and reinforce brand presence, goods presence and sales at the POS. It is for exactly these reasons that we chose the “POSsibility” display system from Wanzl.”

The manager of the Wanzl POS long-term displays division Werner Kössler presents the 2011 gold Superstar Award in the “Metal Systems” category. The winning Wanzl “POSsibility” display takes up less that one square metre of shop floor space and perfectly presents and brands any range of goods. And it can also be expanded into a complete shop-in-shop concept on request. |
| Added value with displays from Wanzl [more] |
Support the brand: customised solutions from Wanzl boost turnover at the PoS – for both first and second placements. Examples from PoS practice. creating beautiful homes is the passion of Ritzenhoff & Breker: whether it’s a question of beautifully laid tables, utensils for the kitchen or accessories for home decoration. As an internationally active company, Ritzenhoff & Breker supplies self-service department stores, shopping centres, boutiques and specialist furniture and furnishing stores with 4,500 glass, china and ceramic products and accessories. Specially for Ritzenhoff & Breker, Wanzl has developed the customer loyalty promotion display for a current glass and china series. Seen from a distance, the branding creates a positive impression with large-scale top panels and advertising motifs that can be fitted with advertising images of the famous German TV chef, Horst Lichter. The red base with the brand name Ritzenhoff & Breker also draws more attention. The combination of the metal support frame and wooden shelves add a touch of elegance. Wanzl deploys these materials specifically for brand products at the PoS: they are characterised by a long service life and an excellent appearance even in the long term. Combined with wood and other materials, numerous individual design possibilities are available, right through to a shop-in-shop theme world. Also guaranteed: environmental friendliness, flexible use, excellent value with an unmistakable, attractive product presentation at the PoS. Wanzl is taking part in the SUPERSTAR 2010 Award, which is being held for the first time at the viscom trade show, with the new display for Ritzenhoff & Breker. Spiegelau means lifestyle combined with traditional, artistic craftsmanship: wine glasses with the ultimate requirements for quality, aesthetics, durability and value. As well as the experience of wine-drinking. For promotion placements at the PoS, Spiegelau chose the high-quality metal displays from Wanzl. The new plug-connection mechanism guarantees both quick and easy assembly and disassembly. Advertising panels that can be fitted flexibly and exchanged as required support both the branding and individual, imminent sales promotions. Kärcher is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of cleaning devices. Together with Wanzl and the STI Group, Kärcher has now developed the current “Garden shed” display. Built on a wooden Euro pallet sized 1200 x 800 mm, the display simulates a real garden shed on a miniature scale. The components: a display support frame, a set of blister hooks and a printed cladding bound with cardboard. The basic idea is that the support frame can be used in the long term for several different campaigns. If required, it can also be adapted and flexibly redesigned for seasonal offerings. The same applies to the design and the advertising message on the cardboard-bound cladding. Kärcher supplies this extremely durable “Garden shed” display fully fitted to the retail trade. It is delivered directly to the PoS with a forklift. Upon request, additional baskets permit the sale of loose goods. Wanzl is the service supplier for the new Kärcher display.

| Customised displays – from individual solutions to complete shop-in-shop schemes [more] |
Wanzl designs and manufactures highly effective sales displays – from a single object to an entire shop concept. Every customised solution from Wanzl is tailored to optimally suit the customer's individual requirements, specific products and POS situation. At the viscom trade fair, Wanzl is showcasing a selection of the latest display models that are currently enjoying great success at customers' premises. One example for improved sales opportunities at the PoS for initial and secondary placement is the Wanzl shopping system POSsibility. The name POSsibility stands for the product range and also for pure presentation. Adapted to food and non-food articles, trends and exotic products, for every sector. The basic element consists of an original Wanzl system pallet with a grate and a closed wooden base with Euro dimensions: 1200 x 800 mm. The basic kit is completed by wire panel elements with variable shelves. Panel elements can be plugged-in flexibly.
These advantages also convinced Nobby Pet Shop GmbH: the pet accessories specialist is using the Wanzl POSsibility display to continuously showcase more than 90 different snacks for dogs, cats and rodents at secondary locations in the German market for pet products. Two different versions – displays for stand-alone placement and shop-in-shop systems (see picture) measuring 2.8 metres and each consisting of three modules – meet any spatial challenges. The emotional branding developed by Wanzl with logo placement, visualisation and the selective use of colour generates interest at the PoS. The displays are delivered fully stocked and can be regularly refilled by Nobby employees as required. POSsibility can be collapsed for transport and storage. A further advantage of the flexible system is its long service life and reusability which make it particularly environmentally friendly and cost-effective. The POSsibility display is one of the products Wanzl is submitting for the SUPERSTAR Award, which is being presented at viscom for the first time. | From a basic element to theme world [more] |
The purchase decision is made at PoS: More than 50 percent of all customers only decide here which product to purchase. The percentage even increases to 70 percent when considering seasonal purchases, Christmas items or sales placements.* Wanzl's new POSsibility for first or second rate placements in PoS turns these facts into cash turnover for trade and industry. The name POSsibility stands for the product range and also for pure presentation. Adapted to food and non-food articles, trends and exotic products, for every sector.
Intelligent basic module
The basic element consists of an original Wanzl metal pallet with a grate and a closed wooden base with Euro dimensions: 1200 x 800 mm. The basic kit is completed by wire panel elements with variable shelves. Panel elements can be plugged-in flexibly. Brand manufacturers can stock the display completely before delivering them to retail businesses. The stocked display system can then be transported directly from the truck or store to the sales room using a lift truck - very convenient, and also a real time-saver for retailers. Optionally, retail business personnel can stock items locally and individually for special sales promotions. The POSsibility display can optionally be used as a top-quality brand article system. Individual labels with brand names enable >>branding à la carte<< and create emotion and recognition value for customers and turnover.
Variable modular system
POSsibility can be adapted flexibly to any sales situation thanks to its intelligent modular principle. The modular approach makes POSibility very versatile and infinitely extendable. The system can be adapted to any room situation. Standalone solutions can be assembled by combining various modules consisting of wall and freestanding shelves. Additionally, it is possible to create entire theme or product worlds with individual product carrier concepts as a shop-in-shop system. Customers can access the sales system from up to four sides. If required, blister hooks, dividers, flexible wire shelves and price tracks can be individually adapted to the sales situation. POSsibility can be collapsed for transport and storage if required. A further advantage of the flexible system is its long service life and reusability which make it particularly environmentally friendly and cost-effective. * Survey >>Consumer Buying Habits<<, POPAI and Gruppe Nymphenburg Consult AG 2.449 characters

| Boosting sales at PoS [more] |
Cost-effective and environmentally friendly
Current examples include the new action displays for Osram, for Christmas World, which produces Christmas products, and for Nachtmann, a manufacturer of lead crystal. All three displays, made from high-quality wire and metal components, are extremely durable and stay looking good for a long time. After the original promotion has finished, the displays can be fitted out with different accessories, for use in further promotions. This kind of multiple application means that the displays are both a cost-effective and an environmentally-friendly investment for the retail trade and for industry.
‘Paletti’ display for Osram
Specially for the global lighting manufacturer Osram, Wanzl has developed the ‘Paletti’ display for presentation of light bulbs at PoS. Made of wire, this stand-alone display has high visual impact and is easily accessible from two sides. Blister hooks can be fitted as required into the display, to take lighting components of different sizes. The display stands on a Europallet which can be easily moved from place to place in the store using a hoist. At the top of the display is a high-visibility sign bearing Osram´s corporate CI; this is repeated in the panel around the pallet. After use the display can be folded up – no need for any tools – and stored to save space.
‘System-Shop’ display for Christmas World
Christmas World is a co-operation between seven companies, all of which produce Christmas products. Wanzl has supplied this co-operative with a custom-made, highly stable wire-and-tube display called ‘System Shop’, also designed for long-term use. The display can be fitted as required with wire shelves, side baskets and other accessories, all individually tailored for the presentation of the selected items. A metal-system pallet enables easy transport of the system to another location, using a low-lift platform truck. Depending on the style of presentation, a range of top panels can be used, individually printed to suit the application.
Sales display for Nachtmann
Nachtmann, a manufacturer of high-quality lead crystal, is using special metal-framed displays made by Wanzl that feature push-fit presentation spaces. These quick-assembly metal-framed displays are ideal for presenting special offers or for secondary placement. Advertising can be slotted into the display to support branding, and changed just as quickly, when needed to fit in with ongoing promotions.

| Wanzl displays - The path to the start of production [more] |
|
There is no second chance to make a first impression. This is because many shoppers make purchase decisions in seconds directly at the point of sale*. Goods therefore need sales-promoting displays with stimulating design and appeal, just like the new Rayher shop system. Wanzl has developed an innovative display system for the market leader of the European hobby/arts and crafts sector for the eye-catching presentation of the “Deco-Art” colours for painting. The modular display with nine adjustable attachable shelves and flexible plug-in elements provides maximum space for goods presentation in a small sales floor space - an important criterion for the often small specialist shops in the hobby/arts and crafts sector.
In the initial intensive meetings, Wanzl determined the exact customer requirements. The desire for an unmistakable shop system quickly emerged: a large number goods to be presented effectively in a small space, primarily free-standing solutions with flexible conversion options, which can be integrated in Tego Systems as well as in existing shelves, convertible in various ways for perforated sheet metal with blister goods and a visually unmistakable design. Wanzl implemented these requests in the subsequent development phase: Freehand sketches as well as six prototype shelves were presented after four weeks. The development process also included a detailed check and test procedure as regards the stability of the shelves on an in-house test bench under adverse loading conditions, as well as a visual inspection and an expert opinion test. The product was not presented to the customer until after approval from the inspectors: Rayher immediately started the practical test and presented the shop system at in-house trade fairs of foreign importers, consulted its sales staff and presented the new display at trade fairs. The response was convincing: after a new jointly worked out solution for the topic of signage and the creation of additional storage areas, the Rayher shop system started series production, and over 2,000 of these new systems have been produced to date.
The Rayher specialist retail store “Hobbykunst” (amateur art) in Ulm has been providing the "Deco-Art" range of colours over six metres in the Rayher shop system for a year. CEO Iris Eifert tells us about the new display system in practice.
How are customers accepting the new shop system?
Iris Eifert: The response has been extremely positive as the goods are clearly presented. The shop system itself illustrates the range of goods through the clear structure and well laid out arrangement of goods as well as through the attractive design which catches your eye from a distance. We are experiencing a clear increase in turnover in all cases.
How would you rate handling the shop system?
The individual levels are extendable and are loaded from the rear. This is easy and quick. Alterations, such as for loading seasonal goods, can also be easily carried out to the shop system.

The consumer decides on the success of a product at the PoS. 50 to 70 percent of all purchase decisions are made directly in front of the shelf. The presentation of merchandise plays an important role in the product's overall attractiveness and increases the customer's readiness to purchase it. At the same time, however, retailers are under heavy cost pressure. With its new PALLETi and Joker display lines, Wanzl delivers innovative solutions. Both models are suitable for all-purpose use in the food and non-food sector and open up new sales perspectives while strengthening product and store branding at the same time.
The new Wanzl PALETTi display is the ideal system for supermarkets that want to present goods both effectively and cost-efficiently. PALETTi consists of individual, freely combinable, stable wire elements that can be combined into wall, back-to-back, or corner solutions, and customised to the specific space requirements as well as the merchandise to be presented. The PALETTi system is set up on a Euro palette; a supplementary palette cover ensures the perfect appearance of the new unit. PALLETi can hold large amounts of merchandise. Thanks to a wide range of accessories like wire shelves, side baskets, and blister hooks, this is the ideal presentation system for numerous products. In addition, PALETTi can be filled in the warehouse and then transported by forklift to the PoS. Other benefits include rapid assembly and disassembly as well as space-saving storage until the next use.
The new Joker display, which can be assembled and disassembled quickly without tools, is sure to impress thanks to its clear layout and slim construction. The variable height bottom tray allows flexible filling with different product groups and adapts to the quantity of the presented goods at the same time. Joker is equally versatile in the sales area too: it can be positioned as a wall-mounted shelf, back-to-back, on its own, or directly at the checkout unit. The top signs, available as an accessory, help reinforce brand claims and corporate branding. Wanzl offers the Joker display as a stationary as well as a mobile model with castors. In the warehouse, Joker can be stored flat to save space.

Wanzl with new presentation systems CUBE and PALETTi
Tough competition forces retailers to modernise and make changes at the point of sale: The effective presentation of goods plays an important role in the product's attractiveness and increases the customer's readiness to purchase it. At the same time, however, retailers are under heavy cost pressure. These are the results of the "Shop-Monitor 2004+" study run by the European retail network EHI-EuroHandelsinstitut. Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik provides solutions to these problems with their new goods presentation systems CUBE and PALETTi. The systems are multifunctional and open up new sales perspectives, and both ranges also underline the individuality of store branding and corporate identity in the food and non-food sectors.
CUBE – truly customised
CUBE is of modular design and can be adapted to suit all shop layouts and sizes as well as accommodate products and the required functions. The triangular and rectangular components can be combined to form table groups or stacked, extended, combined and recombined to create displays of varying dimensions. With this high degree of flexibility, CUBE is an extraordinarily economical presentation system which meets all display requirements with maximum versatility. Markets can also choose from a variety of individual side sections of wire or acrylic glass, bases with various surfaces and printable front panels. These features, combined with all-round aluminium profiles, give CUBE a modern, clear-cut and attractive appearance. The design ensures good accessibility to goods from all sides and a clear view of the displayed goods. Wanzl also supplies mobile versions upon request.
PALETTi – tons of options - low price
PALETTi, the second Wanzl innovation, is the right system for markets looking for an effective and inexpensive system for goods presentation. PALETTi consists of individual, freely combinable, stable wire elements that can be combined and placed on the top of a Euro pallet. A supplementary pallet cover ensures the perfect appearance of the new unit. PALETTi can hold large amounts of merchandise. Thanks to a wide range of accessories like side baskets and blister hooks, this is the ideal presentation system for numerous products. In addition, PALETTi can be filled in the warehouse and then transported by forklift to the POS. Other benefits include rapid assembly and disassembly as well as space-saving storage until the next use.

On 1 August 2007, insolvency proceedings were launched on the remaining assets of Siegel GmbH & Co. KG, and auditor Arndt Geiwitz from the law firm SKP Schneider & Geiwitz (Neu-Ulm) was appointed as liquidator. SieWa Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, a subsidiary of Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, took over the Jettingen operation of Siegel GmbH & Co. KG with effect from 20 August 2007. The foreign companies owned by Siegel in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria were not acquired. Wanzl also maintains subsidiaries in these countries. A total of 160 of the approx. 200 active employees at the headquarters in Jettingen were kept on, comprising mainly industrial employees and some of the salaried staff. The former Siegel workforce will be integrated promptly into the workforce at Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik GmbH. Having Wanzl as an investor facilitated a satisfactory balancing of interests with the creditors, while largely avoiding hardship for the workforce, as well as continuity on the market. | |
